La Consejería de Educación viene convocando desde el año 2002 estancias en el extranjero para realizar cursos de inglés, francés y alemán, destinadas al alumnado de Bachillerato y Ciclos Formativos de Grado Medio de Formación Profesional Inicial, al amparo del Programa Idiomas y Juventud, así como desde el año 2005 el programa de intercambios escolares entre alumnos y alumnas de centros docentes de Andalucía y de otros países de Europa de habla inglesa, francesa y alemana. La valoración positiva que se viene realizando de dichos programas aconseja seguir fomentando este tipo de actividades y, además, ampliarlos para que pueda participar el alumnado de otras etapas educativas.

El Acuerdo del Consejo de Ministros de 17 de junio de 2011, por el que se formalizan los criterios de distribución, así como la distribución resultante, para el año 2011, del crédito para la financiación del programa integral de aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, contempla, entre otras actuaciones, las de estancias formativas de alumnos en otros países de 2 a 3 semanas de duración, para la realización de cursos inmersión lingüística, por lo que, junto a la demanda creciente de este tipo de actividad, procede un incremento del número de estancias individuales que satisfaga a aquélla. En su virtud, conforme al artículo 9 y la disposición final segunda del Decreto 18/2003, de 4 de febrero, de ampliación de las medidas de apoyo a las familias andaluzas.

Se ofertan 9.750 plazas, distribuidas de la siguiente forma:

3.750 plazas para estancias formativas en el extranjero para alumnos y alumnas de Bachillerato y Ciclos Formativos de Grado Medio de Formación Profesional Inicial, distribuidas por idiomas de la siguiente forma: 3.300 para cursos en lengua inglesa, 400 para cursos en lengua francesa y 50 para cursos en lengua alemana.

Hasta 3.750 plazas, correspondientes a 125 intercambios, para grupos de alumnos y alumnas de 3º y 4º de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria.
Hasta 2.250 plazas, correspondientes a 75 intercambios, para grupos de alumnos y alumnas de Bachillerato o Ciclos Formativos de Grado Medio de Formación Profesional Inicial.
Se ofertan hasta 75 plazas de profesorado acompañante del alumnado que realice las estancias formativas en el extranjero, a razón de un profesor o una profesora acompañante por cada grupo de 50 alumnos y alumnas, distribuidos por idiomas de la siguiente forma: hasta 66 profesores o profesoras para el idioma inglés, hasta 8 profesores o profesoras para el idioma francés y 1 profesor o profesora para el idioma alemán.

A Few Points to Keep in Mind ( Use this as a check list)

ü Use connectors to link your ideas logically and correctly. ( see list below )

ü Use the appropriate style. Avoid contractions (don't/isn't/ hasn't etc) in formal style.

ü Use a varied vocabulary.

ü Pay attention to the punctuation and to capital letters.

ü Pay attention to the grammar.( For example, check the verbs, singular and plural, 3^rd person singular -s, count and non-count nouns etc. )

ü Don’t forget to skip a line between the different paragraphs.

ü While writing a draft, underline words or expressions you are not sure about.

ü Rewrite (if necessary) and this time check with your dictionary.

Today (8th October, 2011), anyone located on the Costa del Sol will have the chance to experience an amazing meteor shower.

This particular meteor shower is known as the Draconids – so named because they appear to radiate from the constellation Draco (Dragon) – these beautiful streams of light result when the earth ploughs through debris streams shed by a comet on its path around the sun; these become meteors when they hit the earth’s atmosphere and burn up, resulting in what we often refer to as shooting stars.

Earlier in 2011 an astronomer predicted that the Draconids might produce a spurt of 1000 meteors per hour for a brief window of time. So make sure you head out to an area with little light (the glow of city lights makes it difficult to see them), take a comfy beach chair and sit back to watch the amazing spectacle.

Apparently, the best time to see the meteor shower is between 8pm and 10pm and you need to look towards the north.

How to Make English Pancakes

You are on holiday, so why not cooking a fantastic and easy recipe????

This simple recipe for pancakes is perfect for Shrove Tuesday, breakfast or dessert. Make our English Pancakes recipe today.

Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Step 1: You will need:

180 g flour
2 eggs
a pinch of salt
1 tbsp sugar
200 ml milk
75 ml water
30 g melted butter
some extra butter, for frying
some caster sugar
1 lemon, halved
1 bowl
1 whisk
1 frying pan
1 serving plate
1 spoon
1 ladle
1 sieve

Step 2: Mix the batter

Begin by sieving the flour into a bowl. This will help to make the pancakes light as air. Now add the salt, sugar, eggs, milk, water and butter and whisk well into a smooth batter.

Step 3: Cook the pancakes

Place the frying pan over a medium to high heat and allow it to warm through. When hot, add a little of the melted butter, and then three quarters of a ladle of the batter. Move the mixture around so that the batter spreads evenly over the pan. Let it brown underneath for about 30 seconds and give it a little shake to release it from the bottom. It's very important that it doesn't stick to the pan. Also the top should look almost set.

Step 4: Toss the pancakes

Flip the pancake over. Don't worry if you can't do it the first time.Practise makes perfect! And you can always use a spatula! Cook it for a few seconds more and remove. Place the pancake flat on the serving plate. Repeat exactly the same process with the rest of the batter.

TOP TIP: Flip the wrist so that the pan moves in an upward arc which causes the pancake to slide up and out of the pan. A direct lift leaves a partial vacuum under the pancake which tends to keep it in the pan. The movement in the arc supplies the torque to flip the pancake.

Step 5: Garnish and serve

Place the pancakes flat on a plate. Squeeze a little lemon and sprinkle a little sugar over each one before folding in half and then half again to make a fan shape, or you can simply roll them up! Put them on a serving plate, sprinkle over more lemon and scatter over a little more sugar and serve. Warm and cheering, they make the perfect way to celebrate "Shrove Tuesday" or every day!

The Majestic Plastic Bag – A Mockumentary

The open plains of the asphalt jungle, home to many creatures, great and small ... and the pupping ground for one of the most clever and illustrious creatures: the plastic bag. Today we explore the cycle of life for this curious creature the plastic bag on its migration to its home, the Pacific Ocean.

Once released into the wild, the plastic bag is unsure of itself. It falters at first, but soon with some help from the wind, the bag will be airborne. This flight will be its first in its long journey towards its final destination: the garbage patch in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. Using the wind to guide it, the plastic bag moves across the city through the air.

A city park. This park may at first seem an idyllic place for the plastic bag, but danger lurks round every corner. Here it will encounter many enemies, including one of the most dangerous: park services. Poor little fellow– looks like his journey ends here.

Meanwhile, our little bag has encountered one of nature’s most deadly killers: the teacup yorkie. Once the yorkie has locked onto its victim, there’s very little hope of survival. But using its superior size and deft manoeuvring, our bag manages to escape the yorkie’s talons and flee for its life.

Over the course of its miraculous migration, the plastic bag will cover vast distances through neighbourhoods, across parks and down city streets. It is now nightfall, and our highly advanced night-vision cameras have managed to capture for the first time in history a plastic bag in pitch black. Phenomenal.

The vast cement rivers in California, home to literally dozens of animals. Many plastic bags will not make it out of here, the reeds and branches will see to that.

As at home in water as it is on land, or in the air, the bag’s natural buoyancy makes it an excellent swimmer. It’s close now, and it can feel it. At last the bag has reached the gateway to the open sea. Careful to avoid the mouths of hungry sea-life that feed on the helpless plastic, the bag will travel hundreds of miles to join the thriving community of plastic known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The Garbage Patch is a veritable plastic oasis, where millions of tons of plastic garbage remain trapped by the currents. It is said to be twice the size of Texas. Never actually biodegrading, here the plastic bag can live indefinitely, peacefully co-existing with billions of other petroleum species before breaking into ever-tinier plastic pieces, thus completing the plastic cycle of life.

2. We use "do/does" to make questions and negative sentences in the present simple.

Hasta el próximo 1 de diciembre permanece abierto el plazo para la presentación de solicitudes Movilidad del Alumnado Comenius (MAC), de acuerdo con la convocatoria publicada en la página web del Organismo Autónomo de Programas Educativos Europeos (OAPEE), a la que se puede acceder a través del siguiente enlace:

La Movilidad de Alumnado Comenius es una iniciativa europea que tiene por finalidad el que los alumnos y alumnas de Educación Secundaria puedan estudiar durante un período de entre 3 y 10 meses en un centro educativo de otro país europeo, y al mismo tiempo convivir con una familia de acogida del país de destino durante este período de formación en el extranjero.

1. Objetivos.

ofrecer al alumnado de secundaria experiencias de aprendizaje europeas.
desarrollar su comprensión sobre la diversidad de culturas y lenguas europeas.
ayudarle a adquirir las competencias necesarias para su desarrollo personal.
forjar una cooperación sostenible entre los centros participantes y fortalecer la dimensión europea en la educación escolar.

Además, la participación en esta convocatoria también puede resultar una valiosa experiencia pedagógica internacional para los docentes que intervienen en la organización y aplicación de la movilidad. Todos los agentes implicados en MAC (centros, alumnos y alumnas, sus familias y las de acogida) pueden consultar específicamente la Guía de Movilidad Alumnado Comenius elaborada a tal efecto. En esta Guía se especifican las funciones, las responsabilidades y los plazos que deben cumplirse, se ofrecen orientaciones y se facilitan modelos de todos los formularios necesarios. 2. Centros que deseen participar.

La movilidad sólo puede desarrollarse entre el alumnado de centros educativos que participen o hayan participado en una misma asociación escolar Comenius del Programa de Aprendizaje Permanente o de su precedente Sócrates. Los centros solicitantes deberán tener el acuerdo previo con un centro de la misma asociación y de otro país, que será el centro de acogida del alumnado español que participa en la movilidad. Todos los centros participantes deberán estar situados en uno de los siguientes países: Austria, Bélgica, Dinamarca, Eslovaquia, Eslovenia, España, Estonia, Finlandia, Francia, Italia, Letonia, Liechtenstein, Luxemburgo, Noruega, Polonia, República Checa, y Suecia.

3. Presentación de solicitudes.
Las solicitudes deberán presentarse obligatoriamente en línea, a través de la siguiente dirección: http://www.oapee.es/oapee/inicio/servicios/gestion-linea.html Además, se deberán enviar dos ejemplares de la solicitud en papel, firmadas por el director o directora del centro educativo solicitante. Cada uno de los ejemplares será enviado a cada una de las siguientes direcciones:
